Katee Sackhoff gun safety tweet loses actress half of her followers

“Please practice gun safety. This is horrible!” That was tweeted by actress Katee Sackhoff in response to a recent Arizona incident. The incident involved a 4-year-old who fatally shot his father with an unlocked handgun. The innocent reminder cost Katee half her Twitter following.

The post resulted in a lot of activity on the actress’s page. One follower wrote “Here’s a radical idea folks. How about NO gun?” Another jumped to the conclusion that Katee was advocating automatic weapons. Others defended the actress and her point of view.

Katee tried to maintain a reasonable tone. In a show of consideration for opposition, Katee tweeted “There are many safe homes with guns & kids in them. I’ve grown up around them for hunting & NEVER handled one without an adult. It’s about safety, education, and loving & listening to our children. There are so many reasons why guns are scary but there are so many reasons they are part of our world & lives. There is no easy answer here that will satisfy everyone.”

Katee’s followers fell to about 98,000 before rebounding back to 130,000. This rebound was largely the result of Twitter users who hadn’t been following the actress beginning to do so as an expression of support for her standing her ground in the debate.

As the dust settled and the discussion came to the close, Katee expressed her opinion on the matter one more time: “Well I guess I just learned talking about #GunSafety inspires a massive debate. Pro-Gun or Anti-Gun SAFETY should be unanimous!”

Why have gun control advocates taken offense to the discussion of gun safety?

Let them go they were not true followers now you have the real deal followers, like me and other gun advocates who believe in the consitution.

In fact, Katee lost few, if any, followers; she was, in other words, *joking*, a concept that many seem to not understand. She’d been hovering around 98K – 100K followers for awhile. But this kerfuffle has brought her a lot of new ones!

Disclaimer: I used to run a fan website about Katee, but I am not affiliated with her nor do I speak for her in any way. Just frustrated by how this story has been reported.

If you own guns, you are responsible for the care of said firearms, and safety of those around them. It has been my experience while just talking to folks, that the same people that are anti-gun, are the same people that have driven cars prices to where they are. Because of all the safety features we MUST have now. They are the same people that require, need cars to be idiot proof. They need air bags, so if they crash while texting, they don’t die, but screw the other guy I hit, he should’ve had air bags, or not been driving. Next we all have to pay for ” back-up cameras” , to be added into the cost, because these same people, in NY over 1000 kids get backed over by their own parents, in their own driveway. According to NYS ins. figures. In their minds the world must be made to be safe, for them to be stupid, and in a hurry,so they don’t have to think. We are working against Darwin’s theory’s. They know they cannot be responsible for anything, so by their logic, neither can you. So they will make you safer, for them to be around.Hahaha, I really think that’s their thought process. Yes, we do by the safest cars we can for our family’s, because of ” the others on the road”. These newer cars tell you when to change your oil, check tire pressures, etc. and of course Bluetooth now. We are all so important, a phone call can’t wait? All this comes with a price tag. Guns have been around for hundreds of years, safely, cars, maybe about 1 hundred years, and highways are getting more dangerous. We can’t idiot proof the world, but they are trying. They don’t think about their own actions, they worry about yours. I just thought that one example of the safe world, utopian, world these idiots are after. Politicians just want you dis-armed so they can run roughshod over us, pass more stupid laws, they are exempt from, but you must follow, ie. insider trading, for one. They would tax the air you breath, if they could, so disarm everyone, then they can try without too much fear. There is nothing wrong with guns owned by law-abiding people. Punish the criminals, like they should, that would increase public safety. Yes, that means “work”, for them. Sorry just going on now-

      AMEN DON.

    • toolingjim says:

Don, don’t you know they are already taxing your breathing? It’s called a ‘carbon tax’ and it taxes emissions of carbon dioxide, like for instance the stuff you exhale every minute of your life. Didn’t think it could be done. Environmental loons did it.

That hit the nail right on it!!

    • Mild Bill says:

Safety is viewed as the job of some other person, to protect them from harm. Utopian dreamers, indeed they are doomed to disappointment.

This is a perfect illustration of the cesspool that is twitter, and the mentality of half of it’s users. They are the half who preach that everyone must be tolerant, and are in fact the least tolerant among us. They are the half who would scream for protecting citizens’ rights, and be the first to plead for the removal of our Second Amendment rights. They are the half who think they’re smarter than the rest of us, when in fact have no comprehension skills, and are illogical and hypocritical.
They are a danger to our society, as are their far-left masters who control them.
Good riddance to them…and way to go Katee!

  5. cal says:

You tell em’ Katee!!!! Those gun haters will one day wish more Americans were armed when all hell breaks loose and they are being thrown into internment camps by the powers that rule and have no way to fight back….

  6. Joe Cash says:

Why would anyone waste their time with twitter? Twitter is one of the most worthless websites/technologies around. Just a trendy way to waste time and feel important.
